Matt has been working for C-Mac Industries for the last 11 years and 10 months where he started his working career as a sheetmetal apprentice at the age of 16yrs *(Scroll down to see Matt's C-Mac Story below). W*e at C-Mac have witnessed his talent, work ethnic, integrity, attitude and the drive to improvement of his skillsets. His remarkable progress and performance at C-Mac make him eligible to handle the challenges and meet our expectations in managing the sheetmetal department in a better way. Enjoy a quick read on Matt's C-Mac journey below:   Matt’s C-Mac Story   I started at C-Mac 11 years ago as a 16 year old just out of year 10 as a sheet metal apprentice. I spent a lot of time with various tradesman learning a large variety of skills. I especially liked stainless steel work and anything where the appearance is important, it taught me to take pride in my work and aim for high quality as my career progressed. I finished my apprenticeship and early on flagged an interest in progressing to the office. I began night courses at TAFE doing basic estimating and CAD. After a year as a tradesman, C-Mac made an opening for me and began work as a technical officer working closely with Shayne (Sheetmetal estimator)  and Jeff (Sheetmetal Manager).   Starting off with very basic drawings and administration work I eventually found myself quoting ever larger and larger jobs and collaborating with Jeff on some high importance projects, really testing me at times.   After Aaron our marketing intern from UWS was offered a full time job at C-Mac, the university approached Rob (General Manager)and asked whether anyone else at C-Mac would be interested in further study. Alex (Fitter & Machinist) and I decided to give it a go and studied our Masters of Business and Commerce. The experience we were gaining from C-Mac allowed us to have lots of input in our class discussions. Two years flew by and we both passed comfortably, potentially opening up more pathways at C-Mac and for our future careers.   From there, due to some shuffling in the office I became responsible for the Sheetmetal department as Manager and was able to gain some valuable management experience. It was a sometimes difficult but rewarding role that saw me thrown in the deep end where I was able to learn some harsh lessons very fast but enjoyed it quite a lot.   It was this journey at C-Mac that gave me the confidence to accept my new role at a different company in a different industry and to take my first big career leap. The opportunities C-Mac have given me from day one have been invaluable and I will reflect on the days as extremely positive and rewarding. I will miss the team at C-Mac and the lifelong friends I’ve gained and wish everyone there the best of luck in the future.   We wish Matt all the very best with his new job ahead and expect him to show the same competence and confidence there as he has rendered with us!   Craig Zawodny has now stepped up from the sheetmetal workshop to fill the gap Matt is leaving. Business is expected to continue with minimal interuption for customers.   We acknowledge Matt's efforts and thank him for the unconditional commitment and dedication throughout the years. C-Mac made changes to the tooling to make access and ease of use to decrease service down times. \*\[Service Manager\]\* An industrial fan service company had a failure of a major shopping centre air conditioning fan/ blower. C-Mac repaired the unit within a 24hr turn around for minimum downtime. \*\[Owner/Manager\]\* A major food manufacturer specializing in tomato sauce had a filling machine breakdown. The machine was brought to C-Mac and repaired in 24hrs for minimum downtime of the production line costing $5,000 per hour. \*\[RAAF - Warrant Officer\]\* Airfield support staff required a portable sandbagging frame and requested a design, prototype and trials at no cost. There was nothing suitable on the market i.e. made in Australia. "Sandbagging Frames":materials-handling/1-bagging-equipment#silt-bagging-frame are now on the national procurement data base and some probably overseas at different war zones. \*\[Mechanical Design Engineer\]\* An automotive transmission design customer needed help with designing an automatic transmission gear prototype. We suggested and engineered a more cost effective and practical way for the mass production stage. \*\[Nursery Manager\]\* At an exhibition saw our self tracking nursery trailers and indicated he had a costly issue transporting large (heavy) pots containing advanced trees. Existing method was a bobcat. C-Mac designed and quoted for the manufacture of a Self Tracking “Low Loader”. His comment on the first day of using "Low Loader trailer":nursery-equipment/7-trailers/#low-loader-self-tracking-trailer “Can now move 100 litre pots with trees, 150 metres in 1 hr and not get a sore back”. \*\[Purchasing Officer\]\* A mining design and machining company needed help with machining components urgently as they were too busy to keep up with the demand. C-Mac machined the components so the deadline could be met. \*\[General Manager\]\* Customer had to submit a proposal and compete against other countries for the manufacturing facility. C-Mac submitted drawings to show there was space in existing plant to install the new process and to comply with all Australian OH&S Standards. Working together with customer to submit proposal to the Head Office overseas WON the contract. Project was a success meeting 6month lead time and budget. \*\[Nursery Owner\]\* Needed a specific Potting & Mixing machine. for his yuccas nursery, but the problem was it was no longer manufactured. From his description and specifications our engineers designed and modelled in 3D software his requirements. "Potting Machine":nursery-equipment/3-potting-machines/ was manufactured and fully tested with potting media in our workshop, video was then sent to customer who was very pleased with the results. Machine disassembled and freighted interstate and installed. \*\[Maintenance Engineer\]\* An industrial hydraulic fitting manufacturer had problems with gear and shaft breakages with their machinery. They also had problems repairing and maintaining.
